Experience the 2024 Solar Eclipse on a Flight With This Sweepstake From Southwest and Omni Hotels — How to Enter

Still haven't booked that solar eclipse getaway experience? It's OK. Southwest Airlines and Omni Hotels & Resorts want to give you one instead. 

The airline and hotel group just announced a new partnership known as the Solarbration Sweepstakes," which gives two lucky winners a chance to experience the path of totality alongside their chosen plus one.

"The whole world will be looking up on April 8, and we're over the moon to leverage our place in the sky by extending an opportunity to observe this phenomenon on several Southwest flights in the path of the eclipse," Julia Melle, director of brand and content for Southwest Airlines, shared in a statement provided to Travel + Leisure. "Connecting People to places and experiences is what we do best, and rounding out this once-in-a-lifetime flight opportunity with a celestial stay at Omni Hotels aligns the stars for two lucky winners."

The giveaway includes seats on one of Southwest's two flights that are expected to have the best chance of providing passengers with a full view of the eclipse from the sky. The first is Southwest Flight #1252 which departs Dallas Love Field (DAL) at 12:40 p.m. CDT for Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT). The second is Southwest Flight #1721, which departs Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) at 12:55 p.m. CDT for Indianapolis International Airport (IND).

Winners will also spend a night in a custom-designed guest room in an Omni Hotel in the departure cities of Dallas and Austin and the arrival cities of Pittsburgh and Indianapolis.

We're excited to offer the sweepstakes winners a unique and one-of-a-kind experience in our eclipse-themed Omni guest rooms."

As Buckley noted, guests will also receive commemorative, eclipse-themed amenities to take home with them so they can remember the experience forever, along with a gift that keeps on giving — top-tier status with Omni's Select Guest Loyalty program for the duration of 2024, which includes perks like free upgrades, early and late check-out times, and free wifi throughout a stay. 

There's no purchase necessary to enter. All you need to do is head to eclipsesweepstakes.com and pop in your details. The sweepstakes is open to residents of the U.S., excluding Alaska and Rhode Island, who are 21 or older at the time of entry.

But even if you don't win, Omni still wants to offer travelers a great eclipse experience. So, it's hosting Solarbration Packages at several of its hotels in the path of totality, which include an eclipse watch party, eclipse glasses, eclipse amenities, and early and late check-out.
